Composite Bonding

Chips, gaps and worn edges rebuilt in a single visit, without drilling.

Bonding sculpts tooth-coloured composite directly onto your tooth to close a gap, rebuild a chipped corner or even up a worn edge. It is done freehand in one appointment, usually with no drilling and no anesthetic.

It is the most conservative cosmetic treatment we offer, and often the smartest place to start. Nothing is removed, so if you dislike it or your plans change later, you have lost no tooth structure.

Composite does not resist staining or wear as well as porcelain, so bonding needs polishing periodically and replacing eventually. For a small correction that trade is usually well worth making.

Common questions

Composite Bonding

Does it need freezing?

Usually not. If we are working close to the gum or on a sensitive tooth we will offer it.

How long does bonding last?

Several years typically. Coffee, tea, red wine and smoking will stain it sooner, and biting nails or ice will chip it.
