Bad Breath Treatment
Finding the actual cause of halitosis, then treating it.
Persistent bad breath is a symptom, not a hygiene failing. In the large majority of cases the cause is in the mouth and is treatable once it has been correctly identified.
The usual culprits are gum disease, bacterial coating on the back of the tongue, decay, a failing restoration trapping food, or dry mouth — often caused by medication. Less commonly the cause is sinus, tonsil or digestive.
We examine for each of those in turn rather than reaching for a mouthwash. Masking the smell without finding the source is why so many people have been fighting this for years.

Common questions
Bad Breath Treatment
Will mouthwash fix it?
It masks it for an hour or two. Alcohol-based rinses can make things worse by drying the mouth further.
Could it be my medication?
Very possibly. Many common drugs reduce saliva flow, and saliva is the mouth's own cleaning system. Bring your medication list and we will work through it.
