Tooth-Coloured Fillings
Bonded composite restorations that repair decay without a metal line.
When decay has gone past the point where it can be arrested, a filling removes it and rebuilds the tooth. We place bonded tooth-coloured composite, shade-matched so the repair disappears into the tooth.
Composite bonds to the tooth rather than simply wedging into it, which means we can be conservative: we remove the decay and very little else, and the remaining tooth is left stronger than it would be under a traditional amalgam preparation.
Old, failing silver fillings can be replaced with composite for the same reason. If a tooth has lost too much structure for a filling to hold, we will say so and talk about a crown instead — an over-large filling that fails in two years serves nobody.

Step by step
What to expect
Numbing
Topical gel first, then local anesthetic delivered slowly so you barely register it.
Cleaning out
Only the decayed tissue is removed; healthy tooth stays where it is.
Bonding
The composite is placed in layers, shaped to your bite and cured.
Polishing
Contoured and polished so it feels like tooth, not like a repair.
Common questions
Tooth-Coloured Fillings
How long do composite fillings last?
Well-placed composite in a well-cared-for mouth commonly lasts a decade or more. Size, position, grinding habits and diet all move that number.
Can I eat afterwards?
Composite is fully set before you leave, so yes — though we would wait until the freezing wears off so you do not bite your cheek.
Should I replace my silver fillings?
Not simply because they are silver. We replace them when they are leaking, cracked, or decay has started underneath.
