Most of what protects a smile is unglamorous and early: a cavity caught while it is still enamel-deep, a cracked filling replaced before it splits a cusp, gum inflammation reversed before it costs you bone. We would far rather find those things at a checkup than meet them in an emergency.

That is why every exam includes low-dose digital imaging, an oral cancer screening and a look at how your teeth actually meet — and why we show you what we see on screen, so a recommendation is something you can look at rather than something you have to take on faith.
